J&K: Four terrorists killed in foiled infiltration bid
Four terrorists were neutralized in an encounter at Keran sector of Kupwara district, in Jammu and Kashmir. Alert security personnel intercepted the terrorists when they were making an infiltration bid late at night on April 9. Operations are still underway along the Line of Control.
Encounter followed a day of violence
Earlier in the day, eight people were killed and several injured as violence erupted in the Valley during a Lok Sabha by-poll in Srinagar. In more than 200 incidents of violence, especially in Budgam, locals resorted to stone pelting, set ablaze vehicles and structures, and hurled petrol bombs. Amid disrupted polling, a 7.14% turnout was recorded - a new low since the late 1990s.
