IRCTC installs first-ever Pizza Vending Machine at Mumbai railway station
Pizza lovers, and Indian railways passengers, both of which are high in numbers, have something to rejoice! The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which is the catering wing of Indian railways, has installed the first ever automated Pizza Vending Machine at the Mumbai Central Railway Station. IRCTC plans to install five such machines at local railway stations across Mumbai. Here's more.
The installation is part of IRCTC's catering modernization step
Fresh, hot pizzas in real time!
The commuters simply have to insert money, and select the pizza of their choice. The machine then prepares the dough, adds toppings, and bakes the pizza in real time. The cheesy, hot pizzas are dispatched through the delivery system of the machine, within minutes. Not just that, other quick bites such as french fries, popcorn, ice-cream, and fruit juice are also up for grabs.
Automated vending machines finding roots in India!
Automated food vending machines are quite the norm in American and European countries. And, of late, the concept is catching up in India as well. The convenience and quickness of the service is what makes it so popular.
IRCTC aims to improve quality of catering service
Notably, IRCTC is continuously working to improve the quality of their catering service, in trains as well as at stations. As many as eight new base kitchens have been opened at various railway stations, including Allahabad, Balasore, Kharagpur, Sealdah, Howrah, and Noida. Additionally, an estimated budget of Rs. 15 crore has been allocated for establishment and renovation of kitchen units at railway stations.
