After Bollywood actor-director Arbaaz Khan confessed to having taken part in IPL betting, another well-known Bollywood celebrity has now been named in connection to the betting racket.
This time, bookie Sonu Jalan, who allegedly has ties to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has named 'Housefull' director Sajid Khan in the betting racket.
Police are investigating Sonu's claims.
Here's more.
Information
Who all have been named by Sonu Jalan so far?
Apart from naming Salman Khan's brother Arbaaz, Sonu Jalan has also named two other Bollywood producers, Parag Sanghvi and Murad Khaitan, along with Dilip Ludhani, a top bookie who is the son of a Mumbai-based builder. Sajid Khan is the latest addition.
Dawood
Police also certain of Dawood connection
Senior inspector Pradeep Sharma of Thane Anti-Extortion Cell, who is investigating IPL betting scam, earlier said that there was a distant but clear Dawood Ibrahim connection in the scam.
Sharma revealed the syndicate is run by two Dawood aides. Police are trying to invoke MCOCA in the case, to garner more information on the syndicate, that has its centre in Pakistan.
Investigation
Sajid Khan hasn't been summoned by police yet
Sonu Jalan told the police that Sajid Khan, the brother of famed Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan, used to place bets on IPL matches around seven years ago.
The Thane police are investigating the claims, but haven't summoned Sajid yet for the investigations.
Police are of the opinion that Jalan's arrest will reveal more high-profile participants in the IPL betting racket.
