BJP MLA thrashes Municipal Corporation official with a bat
In an outrageous incident captured on video, Indore BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya thrashed a Municipal Corporation officer, who was overseeing an anti-encroachment drive, with a cricket bat in Indore. However, Vijayvargiya, who is the son of senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, justified his actions, alleging a corrupt demolition drive by the Municipal Corporation in collusion with Congress legislators. Here's more on what happened.
An argument between Vijayvargiya and officials led to the assault
Reportedly, a team of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) officials, led by Dhirendra Byas and Asit Khare, were in the city's Ganji Compound area overseeing an anti-encroachment drive when Vijayvargiya and his supporters approached them and an argument followed. The argument became heated and Vijayvargiya thrashed the Municipal Corporation official. Bystanders also thrashed the official and tried to rip his shirt off, ANI reported.

Vijayvargiya claimed buildings in his area were being demolished
Vijayvargiya told ANI, "I got to know that some buildings are being demolished by some Congress leaders in connivance with the Municipal Corporation." He alleged that despite his requests to be kept in the loop about work in the area under his jurisdiction, they received reports of a building being demolished that he wasn't informed about. He then sought the Commissioner's help, Vijayvargiya said.
Gangs were sent to displace people: Vijayvargiya
"Commissioner agreed, but the next day I got to know that gangs were sent to displace people living in this building," Vijayvargiya told ANI. "Gangs dragged women out of their houses by their feet, women police should've been with them but they were not. When I reached there, people got angry at the officers and chased them away," he added.
'Aavedan, nivedan aur phir dana dan'
"I warned them to leave in ten minutes, or they will be responsible for the consequences. But they did not listen to me," Vijayvargiya said. "This is just the beginning. We will end this corruption and goondaism. Aavedan, nivedan aur phir dana dan, this is our line of action (Request, appeal and then thrashing, this is our line of action)," he added.
Case registered against Vijayvargiya, 10 others
Meanwhile, Indore Assistant Superintendent of Police Anil Patidar said that an investigation is underway and assured that whoever is guilty would be punished. A case has been registered against Vijayvargiya and ten others in connection with the incident. Vijayvargiya said he would lodge a separate FIR against the Municipal Corporation over "hooliganism and such malpractices" as he claimed a fifth building was demolished.
