IndiGo apologizes after passengers 'suffocate, faint' due to AC malfunctioning
IndiGo Airlines has issued an apology following an air conditioning system malfunction on its Delhi-Varanasi flight (6E 2235) that led to extreme heat inside the cabin. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in several passengers allegedly fainting due to high temperatures. A video circulating on social media showed passengers fanning themselves with inflight magazines, while others appeared to be struggling due to the heat.
IndiGo's response to cabin temperature fluctuations
In its official statement, IndiGo said, "We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced on flight 6E 2235 operating from Delhi to Varanasi on September 5, 2024." The airline attributed the discomfort to fluctuations in cabin temperature, which were adjusted in response to passenger requests. It also assured that their cabin crew promptly extended assistance to affected passengers.

Previous incident of AC malfunction on IndiGo flight
In June 2024, a similar incident occurred on the airline's Delhi-Bagdogra flight when the AC stopped working for nearly an hour. This left passengers, particularly the elderly, gasping for air due to suffocation. At that time, IndiGo had attributed the malfunction to high ground temperatures affecting aircraft operations and assured that passenger safety was their top priority.
