Pacer Mohammed Shami's wife arrested for creating ruckus, later released
On Sunday, Hasin Jahan, the estranged wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami was arrested in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The police detained her from Shami's home in Sahaspur Ali Nagar village for creating ruckus at his place. However, she was later released. Shami, currently busy playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kings XI Punjab franchise, was earlier accused by Jahan of adultery and torture.
Jahan locked herself in a room along with her child
Jahan reached her husband's house in Amroha on Sunday night. After her in-laws asked her to leave the place, she refused and locked herself, along with her child, in a room. The police were called in, but they failed to control the situation and arrested Jahan. Meanwhile, Jahan said, "I have come to my husband's house and I have every right to stay here."
Police should have arrested my in-laws, says Jahan
"My in-laws are misbehaving with me and the police are supporting them. They should have arrested them but they are taking me to the police station," Jahan added. In March, she filed a petition against Shami accusing him of domestic violence in Alipore court, Kolkata.
Chargesheet was filed against Shami in March
Following the petition, a charge sheet was submitted against the cricketer before the court and he was charged under IPC Section 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). Jahan also demanded compensation of Rs. 7 lakh per month from Shami. In March 2018, she had accused him of having multiple extramarital affairs, indulging in vulgar chats with multiple women, torture and attempted murder.
