J&K: Indian Army Major killed in IED blast near LoC
An Indian Army Major has been killed in an IED blast in Jammu & Kashmir's Nowshera near the Line of Control in Rajouri district. As of now, it is unclear whether the blast was perpetrated from across the border, said CNN News18. Explosion occurred hours after Rajnath Singh reviewed security situation
The IED blast in Nowshera occurred only hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the security situation in the country, especially in J&K, following the Pulwama attack. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and several other officials attended the meeting.
Terrorists planted the IED inside LoC: Reports
According to news agency ANI, the Indian Army Major was killed in an explosion that was triggered while he was defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) that had been planted by terrorists. The terrorists planted the IED 1.5km inside the Line of Control. The Major-rank army officer reportedly belonged to the Corps of Engineers.

Afghan war veteran allegedly masterminded the IED blast
According to CNN News18, sources said an Afghan war veteran named Abdul Rashid Ghazi is suspected to have masterminded the Nowshera blast. Ghazi, who is an IED expert, had allegedly infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley back in December.
