Bengaluru's first woman cab driver found dead
Bharathi Veerath, the first woman cab driver in Bangalore, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented house in Sanjay Nagar. The body was found hanging from a ceiling in a sitting position. Police have filed a case of suicide and are waiting for the post-mortem report to investigate the cause of death. Neighbours are being questioned by the police regarding Bharathi's activities.

Bharathi Veertha had moved to Bengaluru from her hometown in the neighbouring state of Telangana, Warangal in 2005. She started working as a tailor and then moved to a travel agency. Later, she joined Sangama, an NGO where she learnt to drive. In 2013 Bharathi went on to get a driving licence and a job at Bengaluru's all-woman cab service, Angel City Cabs.
Uber India's first female driver
Bharathi Veerath joined Uber in 2013 and became the company's first cab driver in India. Bharathi raised a loan and purchased a Ford Fiesta car, in 2014. She also drove India's most famous female corporate leaders, Biocon CEO Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. Bharathi said in an interview, "For a woman, it's tough to get family support for this profession, "I took this job as a challenge."

In an interview to The News Minute, Bharathi said, ''I've never had any bad experience with any customer. I've had a comfortable driving experience with passengers, and they too have been appreciative.''
