'True independence...': Bhagwat on Ram Mandir's consecration day

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya signified India's "true independence."
He suggested the day be celebrated as "Pratishtha Dwadashi," representing India's sovereignty after centuries of foreign invasions.
The historic ceremony, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over, took place on January 22, 2024.

Bhagwat's remarks on Ram temple movement
Bhagwat clarified the Ram temple movement wasn't launched to oppose anyone.
The RSS chief insisted it was initiated to awaken India's "self" (swa) of Bharat, enabling the country to stand independently and guide the world.
He made these remarks after presenting the "National Devi Ahilya Award" to Champat Rai the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Indore.

Rai was a key player in the temple's construction and dedicated his award to everyone who played a role in the Ram Mandir movement.
He described the temple as "Hindustan ki Moonchh (mustache)" or national pride.
The National Devi Ahilya Award is an annual award given by Indore-based Shri Ahilyotsav Samiti for contributions in various social fields.
