Won't step back, India warns Pakistan over ceasefire violations
While holding DGMO- level talks on Monday, Lt General AK Bhatt issued a strict warning to Pakistan over ceasefire violation along the LoC. Bhatt told his counterpart Major General Mirza that India will continue retaliatory firing if Pakistani Army targeted Indian troops or tried infiltrating terrorists. Both the DGMOs spoke over the hotline, clearing the air that India reserved the right to hit back.
Pakistan must reciprocate efforts of maintaining peace along LoC: DGMO
Raising deep concern over the recent ceasefire violation which killed a 6-year-old girl, Lt General Bhatt said Indian Army was sincere in its efforts about maintaining peace along the LoC but Pakistan must reciprocate. He also said that Pakistan Army's forward posts continued to actively support infiltration. Bhatt further said that sniping operations, targeting of troops were supported by Pakistani forces.
Cross-border violations on the rise, says Army
Charting a new number altogether, the Army has recorded at least 238 ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC. While the cross-border violations in 2014 and 2015 stood at 153 and 152 respectively, 228 was the number last year. With the grisly attack of the Pakistan Army, India has declared it would "pro-actively retaliate" to the LoC misadventures.
Pak DGMO stresses over commanding troops along LoC
While India's stance towards Pakistan was clear, DGMO Pakistan Army Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza emphasized upon the importance of controlling troops, since these repeated acts of violations could spiral into major standoffs. The DGMO Pakistan also reiterated India's dialogue that in case of any recurrence of violation along LoC, Pakistan Army would too give fitting reply.
