16-hour water supply disruption today, tomorrow in Delhi: Details here
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a 16-hour water supply disruption in several parts of the national capital on Tuesday and Wednesday due to maintenance work. The water board issued a statement saying the supply would be stopped due to the repair of a leakage in a pipeline near Niothi Mor. Residents will not receive water supply between 10:00am on Tuesday and 2:00am on Wednesday.
Maintenance work to affect water supply in Delhi
The DJB statement explained that the disruption is due to "major repair work in the 1100mm dia header line feeding to 1100mm dia West Delhi Main and 1200mm dia Pitampura Main inside plant premises of Water Treatment Plant Haiderpur Ph-l." As a result, water supply in affected areas will either be unavailable or available at low pressure from Tuesday morning (10:00am) until early Wednesday (2:00am).
Areas affected by water supply disruption
The DJB has identified multiple areas across the capital that will face disruptions in water supply. Affected locations include Varun Niketan, Raja Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Khyala, Rani Bagh, Moti Nagar, Shanta Puri, Tagore Garden, Tilak Nagar, and Rajouri Garden. Additionally, Hari Nagar and surrounding areas are also expected to experience water shortages.
DJB advises residents to prepare for water supply interruption
With an impending water supply disruption, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has advised residents in the affected areas to store water and use it judiciously. The board has also made arrangements to assist those in need during the outage. "Water tankers will be available on demand from the DJB helpline or the central control room," they mentioned in a statement.
Previous incidents of water supply disruption in Delhi
This is not the first time Delhi has experienced water supply disruptions. Last month, the DJB announced a 12-hour water outage in several areas due to repair works at Chandrawal Water Works, located within the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial, Civil Lines. The affected areas included Civil Lines, Hindu Rao Hospital and nearby locations, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar and adjacent areas.
