Key MLA missing in Arvind Kejriwal's meeting, who is he
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on Sunday, which was his first since his release from Jail Jail. However, noticeably missing from the list of MLAs was Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan. Khan and his son, Anas Ahmed, are currently embroiled in a legal battle over allegations of assaulting and threatening staff at a fuel pump in Noida. According to police reports, both Khan and Ahmed are "underground."
Assault allegations against Khan and his son
An FIR has been lodged against Khan and his son, Ahmed, under charges of assault and criminal intimidation. The FIR was registered based on a complaint by a fuel pump employee who alleged that Ahmed jumped the queue to refuel his car and assaulted the salesperson when confronted. Noida police oofficers reported that the duo is not cooperating in the investigation, with their phones switched off.
Khan's response to assault allegations
Khan earlier told PTI that his son was on his way to an exam when the incident occurred. "The staff of the petrol pump misbehaved with my son and..manhandled him. Now, they are using incomplete CCTV footage to malign my image and frame me in a one-sided police action," he alleged. He also mentioned that he had "settled" the matter with the petrol pump owner after receiving a call from local police but was later "implicated" in the case.
Complainant's side of the story
Vinod Kumar Singh, the complainant, however, tells a different story. He alleged that Ahmed arrived there in his car and asked the salesman to refuel his car first. "He then started beating the salesman and threatened that he was the MLA's son," the FIR says. The complainant further claimed that Ahmed returned later to the fuel pump and threatened to beat up all the employees there.
MLA arrived in convoy of two cars, threatened manager
"He then called his father who arrived there in a convoy of two cars and threatened the pump manager by saying that he (manager) would not be able to do anything if he (Khan) starts beating him and the workers," the complainant alleged. "The MLA then spoke to the pump owner over the phone and told him that this pump falls in our area and if you are here to do business, then do it," he added.
