
IMD forecasts thunderstorms, rain in northern states until March 28

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted strong thunderstorms, rainfall, and lightning strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand between March 25 and 28.
This comes after a new western disturbance set in on the night of March 24.
IMD's warning indicates that these states need to brace for possible weather-related disruptions during this time.

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand brace for thunderstorms
The IMD has warned specifically for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where it said that both states may witness thunderstorms with rain between March 25 and 27.
This latest prediction was part of a larger weather update the meteorological department issued.
Residents of the states are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in light of the potential impact of the weather conditions on daily life.
Temperature alert
IMD warns of temperature rise and heat waves
The IMD has also warned of a rise in maximum temperatures over North West India by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
Central India and interior Maharashtra are likely to experience a rise of 2-3 degrees.
Heat wave conditions are likely in Gujarat's coastal areas on March 25, however, temperatures are expected to fall thereafter.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert in Saurashtra, Kutch, and western Rajasthan.
