
IMD forecasts rainfall, thunderstorms across multiple states till March 31
What's the story
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh till March 31.
The IMD has attributed these weather changes to an active Western Disturbance.
Along with this, cold winds are likely to prevail in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh during this time.
Precipitation forecast
Arunachal Pradesh to experience heavy rains and snowfall
The IMD has also forecast heavy rains and snowfall in Arunachal Pradesh.
Other areas, including central Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, will also see rains till March 31.
The Western Himalayan Region will see scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall due to western disturbances in the next few days.
Similarly, the IMD has predicted isolated to scattered rains over Northeast India, Peninsular and adjoining central India in the next week.

IMD warns of dust storm and heatwave conditions
It has also predicted above-normal rains in South Peninsular India and below-normal across the rest of the country for the week.
The IMD has warned of a likely dust storm in western Rajasthan. Hot and humid weather is predicted in isolated pockets of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and coastal areas of Gujarat during March 28-31.
A heatwave alert has also been issued for parts of Odisha for two days with an expected increase in day temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius.
