IIT-KGP collaborates with French doctoral network in doctoral education, research
What's the story
IIT Kharagpur and REDOC SPI, a French network of doctoral schools, have come together to strengthen institutional collaboration in doctoral education and research.
Interaction and collaboration will be promoted between IIT KGP and REDOC SPI through visits and exchange programmes, joint academic and research doctoral programmes, and joint supervision of doctoral students on a reciprocal basis, an IIT KGP statement said.

MoU for the tie up signed on October 3
A MoU to this effect was signed on October 3, 2018, in Kolkata during 'Choose France Tour' event.
As per the initiative, IIT KGP and REDOC SPI will launch dedicated sections on their websites to share and promote information, opportunities related to doctoral studies in electrical and mechanical engineering.
Funding opportunities could be sought from Indo-French 'Raman Charpak Fellowship' programme of IFCPAR/CEFIPRA among others.
Research activities
IIT KGP and REDOC SPI to formulate joint research activities
"This is an exciting partnership enabling engagement of our Institute with 27 doctoral-schools throughout France," said Prof Anandaroop Bhattacharya, Coordinator of the collaborative initiative of IIT KGP.
IIT KGP and REDOC SPI might formulate joint academic, research activities such as short courses or workshops based on their mutual interests, he said.
Joint research in technology for distance and computer-based learning may be carried out.

Prof Hubert Romat will coordinate from REDOC SPI
Prof Hubert Romat, Director of International Relations, will be the coordinator of REDOC SPI.
REDOC SPI is the only Network of French Doctoral Schools in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering among others.
"We look forward to a long and productive partnership with the talented faculty members of this iconic Institute of India," Romat was quoted to have said in the statement.

"The relationship also aims at enhancing the technological, social and cultural relations of both countries/states/regions. It includes some specifically identified areas of cooperation, which may be updated from time to time" Prof Anandaroop Bhattacharya said in the statement.
