Apply for 'Healthcare Entrepreneurship Fellowship' at IIT-Hyderabad, stipend Rs. 50,000
Professionals or recent graduates, who are looking for fellowship options, can apply for 'Healthcare Entrepreneurship Fellowship' offered by the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad's Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE). The applications for the fully-paid one-year fellowship are now open. A monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 will be provided to the selected fellows, followed by separate grants for start-ups. Here are the details.
Selected candidates will be focusing on biodesign innovation
The selected candidates will be focusing on the biodesign innovation, i.e., using living things like bacteria or plants for developing products. There will also be accessibility to the industry professionals and mentors. The course would include hands-on training on prototyping and IIT-Hyderabad's technology electives to cover expertise gap on topics. By the end of one year, the fellows will present their business-plan to get investments.
But first, what is BioDesign?
BioDesign is not bio-mimicry. Rather it's an integration of biological system and design for better ecological performance. The technology has paved way for alternative products, like 'EcoCradle', which is now commercially available in US and is a replacement of petroleum polymer (used for packaging), which contributes to 25% of landfill. Similarly, 'Microbial Home', developed in Holland, works as an ecosystem with no waste product.
Mark the important dates and eligibility criteria
The fellowship is open to applicants from B.Tech/BE, MBBS/BDS, B.Des and MBA courses. All applicants will be staying on IIT-Hyderabad Campus, accommodation will be borne by the institute. Last date for filling application is April 15, 2019. Announcement of the shortlisted candidates would happen in the second week of May.
