Days after the body of a 29-year-old man was found along with another man with his throat slit at a hotel in SR Nagar, Hyderabad, the police said they have solved the mysterious case. Reportedly, Srikanth Reddy, an Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi) graduate working in Dubai, was murdered by his boyfriend, S Naresh (26), who then attempted suicide. Here are more details.

Naresh confessed to murder, says SR Nagar police

On Thursday, the housekeeping staff at the Hotel Krrish Inn discovered Reddy's body and Naresh lying in a pool of blood when they broke into their room upon no response, The Times of India reported. According to The Hindu, Naresh, who hails from Medak, confessed to killing Reddy, from Guntur, and later attempted to slit his own throat, SR Nagar Police said.

Duo checked into hotel Tuesday; Naresh carried knife

According to TOI, a police investigation revealed that on Tuesday, Reddy told his family he was going to the airport to catch his flight to Dubai, but he hadn't even booked a ticket. Reddy then went to the hotel and Naresh joined him an hour later, the police told TOI. Naresh was reportedly carrying a knife, a rope, and gel.

Reason

Naresh irked by Reddy's plans to marry woman; killed him

According to The Hindu, Reddy, and Naresh had an argument over the fact that the former had gotten engaged to a woman from Visakhapatnam on June 20. Their marriage was scheduled for next month. "We suspect that it was a pre-planned murder, as the accused had carried a knife which he used in the offense. He also had a rope," the police said.

Reddy had arrived in India on June 14 for his engagement, The Hindu reported. He was pursuing his post-doctoral in Dubai. He was last seen by the hotel's staff with Naresh on Wednesday. Naresh is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
