Hyderabad: Bar dancer stripped for refusing sexual favors
What's the story
In yet another distressing incident which shows women are treated as objects of pleasure, a bar dancer in Hyderabad was allegedly stripped and thrashed for refusing sexual favors to customers.
The victim was beaten by four fellow dancers and one male, police said on Sunday.
The incident happened in Begumpet area of the city and four women have been arrested.

What happened
Management of bar forced victim to perform sexual activities
The victim had joined the bar a couple of months ago. After her initial days, the bar's management started harassing her and forced her to perform sexual activities on customers.
On the day of the incident, the victim turned down the demand for paid sex, following which she was assaulted.
Her colleagues stripped and beat her on Friday night when she was returning home.

Victim claimed police didn't help when she was being assaulted
Reportedly, the victim told her harassers her job was just to dance and not satisfy customers "sexually" but they paid no heed and kept assaulting her.
She alleged that the police vehicles were patrolling when the incident happened, but none of them stopped to help her.
Panjagutta station house officer B Mohan Kumar said the allegations are being verified.
Case
Case was registered under relevant sections of IPC
Subsequently, an FIR was registered against the accused under IPC Sections 354 (assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Efforts are on to nab the accused man.

Earlier, the victim worked with Telugu movies
The arrested accused have been sent to judicial remand, said police. Reportedly, the woman worked as a junior artist in Telugu movies, until January last year. She started working at a bar due to her financial conditions.
