19-year-old allegedly raped in Hyderabad cinema hall by 'Facebook friend'
Hyderabad Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a teenager in a theater. The accused had reportedly befriended the 19-year-old woman on Facebook two months ago. On January 21, they first visited a park, then went to watch 'Padmaavat.' However, he took advantage of her as there was nobody sitting near them. Action has also been initiated against the theater owners for negligence.
It was reportedly the second time they were meeting
After a month of friendship on Facebook, 23-year-old Kandakatla Bhikshapati from Jangaon met the woman near Secunderabad railway station and took her to his sister's place. On January 21, he visited Hyderabad again. The two went to Indira Park and later, to watch 'Padmaavat' in Prashant Theater, Secunderabad. During the movie, "he raped the victim as nearby seats were empty," Inspector M Mattaiah said.
Legal action against theater owner for negligence
The woman had injuries on her private parts, police said. Bhikshapati, a construction worker, was arrested after 10 days on the run. "We will initiate legal action against the theatre management for negligence," Mattaiah added.
