WB police find "hundreds of crude-bombs" in TMC strongman's backyard
The hunt for a Trinamool Congress strongman accused of murder unexpectedly led the West Bengal police to hundreds of crude bombs in the accused's backyard. Police were searching former lawmaker Arabul Islam's home in Bhangar, 25km from Kolkata when they found the bombs. The supporter of an independent candidate died when some people opened fire at a campaign rally. Islam was arrested.
Bombs were kept in bags and buckets in a pit
Islam was nabbed on Friday for the crime. Later, police was searching his home when they stumbled upon a deep pit in the ground behind his house. There, they found hundreds of bombs in buckets and bags.
CPM leader accuses Mamata Banerjee of "blessing" attack
Meanwhile, Islam has claimed innocence. He wasn't even in town when the incident happened, he said. Opponents have called his arrest an "eyewash." "The CM, by getting him arrested, can now say she has done her 'rajdharma,' but...he'll be out in no time," an eyewitness said. CPM's SK Mishra said, "Nothing happens without the CM's blessings, including the attack on the independent candidate's campaign-rally."
