Six killed as bus rolls down hill near Shimla
At least six people were killed and 12 injured when their bus rolled down a hill and fell into a gorge near Nai Neti on Solan-Rajgarh road, 70km from Shimla. The bus was on its way from Rajgarh to Solan when it happened. The driver was killed too. The cause of the mishap wasn't immediately known. The injured have been rushed to a hospital.
Bad shape of bus hampered rescue operations
Local villagers were the first to rush to the site and start rescue, before they were joined by authorities. It was difficult to extract the survivors from the badly mangled bus, witnesses said, but operations continued and are now over. JCB machines had to be brought in to retrieve the bodies. Compensation of Rs. 15,000 has been declared for the kin of the dead.
Another six killed in road accident in Chaila
In another road accident, six people were killed near Chaila on the Theog-Hatkoti when their car fell into a 200-feet gorge while negotiating a U-turn. The victims are being identified, officials said.
