How to correctly update your address in Aadhaar card
If you're looking to update your address in Aadhaar card, know that the most convenient and economical way of doing so is through the UIDAI website. But, more often than not, many of these update requests get rejected because users end up making silly mistakes while filling out the form. Here are some common mistakes you must avoid while updating your address online.
Make sure to upload the right proof of address
The UIDAI requires users to upload self-attested, scanned images of certain specified address proof documents. These include your Passport, Bank statement or Passbook, Ration card, Voter ID card, Driving license, bills of electricity/water/gas/telephone landline/property tax receipt/credit card statement (issued within 3 months), Insurance policy, Registered sale/rent/lease agreement, or your marriage certificate. So, make sure you upload scanned images of one of these address-proof documents.
Upload only self-attested, scanned images; mind the transliteration part
One must upload scanned copies of an original document. Scanned images of photocopied documents would not be accepted. Additionally, the scanned images must be self-attested, otherwise they would be rejected. Another thing is to make sure that when the system automatically transliterates your filled-in details to your selected regional language (Hindi/Punjabi/Bengali), the information reflected must be correct in both the languages.
