Indian Railways: How to transfer train ticket to blood relations
For facilitating last-minute change in plans of the passengers, the Indian Railways offers the option of transferring ticket to one of their blood relations. Who all can you transfer your ticket to?
A passenger holding a confirmed train ticket can transfer it in the name of their father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife.
How to transfer your ticket to your relative
A passenger, willing to transfer their train ticket to one of their relatives, must make a request in writing, at the nearest Railway Reservation Office, at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled train departure. The passenger must bring the 'Electronic Reservation Slip', a Photo Identity Proof, and a Proof of Relation (such as the Ration card).
Other cases in which ticket transfer is possible
Rail tickets can be transferred to another government servant, traveling on duty, at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. That apart, tickets can also be transferred to fellow students of a recognized education institute, if the Principal or the Head of the organization makes a request at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train.
