How to apply for a driving license in Delhi
The Indian law requires all citizens, aged 18 or above, to hold a driver's license issued in their name, to be able to drive anywhere in India. Driving, without a license can lead to fines and penalties, among other consequences. The procedure needs one to first apply for a learner's license, and then for a permanent license. Here's how you can go about it.
All about learner's license: Documents required
A learner's license is a temporary driving license, valid for 6 months, issued to facilitate learning of motor-vehicles among the citizens. To apply for a learner's license, one has to submit their learner's license form, along with certain specified documents, like self-attested copies of proof of age, proof of residence, photograph, etc. and the prescribed fee at their nearest RTO (Regional Transport Office).
How to get a learner's license in Delhi
After the successful verification of documents, you'll have to go through a blood test and an eye check-up (color blindness inspection). Post that, you'll have to sit for a computer-based objective-type driving aptitude test. After clearing both these rounds, the application procedure for a learner's license is complete. The LL is issued to you on the same day, and is valid for 6 months.
How to apply for a permanent driving license in Delhi
After the completion of 30 days post the date of issuance of your learner's license, you can apply for a permanent driving license, by submitting necessary documents viz. Form-4, original learner's license, photograph, and the prescribed fee. One also has to appear for a driving test. After passing this test, your DL is issued. The DL is sent to you by post.
