How to enrol your children for Aadhaar
Although not mandatory for minors, enrolling your children for Aadhaar can come handy at a number of occasions. As a vital proof of identity, it helps in availing various government-sponsored schemes and services. Getting Aadhaar made for minors can even help avoid many documentary hassles in the future. Here's how you can enrol your children for Aadhaar.
For children below 5 years of age
Head to your nearby Aadhaar Enrolment centre, and fill up the Aadhaar Enrolment Form. The parent will have to carry their own Aadhaar card, and the child's birth certificate. For children below 5 years age, no biometric data will be needed- a photograph of the child would do the needful. The Aadhaar card issued to minors below 5 years is blue in color.
For minors above 5 years of age
For enrolling your child above the age of 5, you'll have to enclose your own Aadhaar card, the child's birth certificate and their school identity card along with the Aadhaar Enrolment Form. Your child's biometric details and a photograph will be taken at the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. Notably, the details will have to be updated again when the child turns 15.
