Here's how to change passenger's name in booked IRCTC e-ticket
IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) offers the facility of changing the name of a passenger in a booked e-ticket, by visiting the nearest Railway Reservation Office, at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the concerned train. Here's more on the passenger name change facility by IRCTC.
Rules about time frame and required documents for name change
The name change facility can be availed at reservation offices by making a request in writing at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train. Such bookings can be transferred to another member of the family like mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband, wife etc. One must bring a print-out of the 'electronic reservation slip' along with photo ID proof.
A couple of things to know about the facility
The passenger name-change facility can also be availed in case of a government servant proceeding on duty, if they make a written request at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. Also notably, such name-change requests can be made only once for a journey, according to IRCTC.
