Indian Railways bookings: How to book General tickets online
To save passengers the hassle of standing in long queues and waiting for their turn to get a General ticket from ticket counters, the Indian Railways had launched the UTS mobile app. With Diwali just a couple of weeks away, the app will come pretty handy during the upcoming high-rush festive season. Here's more on this.
What is the UTS mobile app?
Though the UTS app was launched 4 years ago, but it remained unpopular and largely a failure besides in Mumbai. The app allows the passengers to book tickets within a radius of about 25 to 30 meters from the railway station. Using the app, a person can book upto 4 tickets. Other than normal tickets, one can also book platform tickets and monthly pass.

"We are trying to encourage people to use UTS mobile app as much as possible. The number is increasing and we expect travelers to buy online tickets when they understand the benefits of this app," a senior Railways official said.
