A night of celebration following India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory descended into chaos in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday.
Young cricket enthusiasts had organized the celebration to commemorate India's victory over New Zealand in the Dubai match.
However, when the rally reached near Jama Masjid, a large group allegedly started hurling stones at them, leading to violence and unrest.
Escalation
Violence spreads beyond initial location
According to the Times of India, the violence that broke out in the Jama Masjid area soon spread to Manek Chowk, Sewa Marg, Market Chowk, and Rajesh Mohalia.
As tensions flared, several motorcycles were set ablaze, and a shop was reportedly torched.
Indore collector Ashish Singh confirmed two vehicles were set on fire during the unrest but didn't give an official count of injuries or damages yet.

Law enforcement
Police restore order, 13 arrested
To control the spiraling violence, police had to baton charge and use tear gas.
The situation was eventually contained with heavy forces deployed, and 13 people have been arrested so far.
Superintendent of Police (Indore Rural) Hitika Wasal said, "The situation is completely under control now... Adequate force is here; we are patrolling the area. The incident will be investigated."
She assured all necessary action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
Ongoing probe
Investigation into cause of clashes underway
A probe has been launched to ascertain the reason behind the clashes. Police are identifying more rioters from videos and those who were masked and pelted stones and petrol bombs.
DIG Agarwal also said there was no information about any casualties after these incidents.
The Men in Blue beat New Zealand after chasing down 252 in a high-voltage final in Dubai.
With this, India have become the first side to win three Champions Trophy titles.
