    What's the story

When a woman in Rajasthan's Alwar went shopping with her husband on April 26, she didn't know the day would take such a traumatizing turn.

The woman was raped by five men in front of her husband, the horrendous act was filmed, and the duo was left in a deserted area.

Details of the horror are enough to hang humanity's head in shame.

    What happened

Accused followed the couple, dragged woman by neck, stripped her

Riding pillion to her husband, the survivor was going towards Talvriksha from her village, Lalwadi, to shop for a wedding.

The couple was stopped by five men, riding two motorcycles, near Thanagazi area. They were then taken to an isolated area.

"They dragged me from my neck, tortured us and tore off our clothes before raping me. They should be hanged," the victim said.

    Ordeal

The accused took turns to rape victim for three hours

The victim said the more she protested the rape, the more the accused tortured her and her husband. This ordeal went on for three hours.

Eventually, the victim surrendered to the accused thinking they would stop beating her husband, revealed her brother-in-law.

They took turns raping her, robbed the couple of Rs. 3,000, and dumped the bike in a ditch.

    Video

Accused also filmed the act, uploaded video on social media

The accused didn't stop at the rape. They made 11 odd videos of the incident, which they used to threaten the victim and her husband.

One of the accused called the husband demanding Rs. 9,000 for deleting the clips. On Monday, a video was uploaded on social media and it went viral.

The couple finally approached the police on April 30 and lodged FIR.

    Quote

    Victim's husband spoke about blackmail

"Even when I was at SHO or at SP office, I kept getting calls from the accused. They kept threatening us. I told the SP that they were threatening us on phone and SP assured us that they will act against them," the husband said.

    Aftermath

The case led to political tussle between BJP and Congress

The horrific incident took a political turn when BJP accused Ashok Gehlot's government of protecting the accused. The saffron party said the Congress fears the incident might hamper its poll prospects.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, the Rajasthan government removed Alwar SP Rajiv Pachar. The state government also announced Rs. 4.12 lakh relief for the victim under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

    Arrests

And, now the three accused have been arrested

Now, police have arrested three out of the five accused. They have been identified as Ashok Gujjar, Mukesh Gujjar, and Inderaj Gujjar. Two other accused are still absconding.

According to police, Mukesh is responsible for uploading the rape clip on social media.

A total of 14 police teams have been formed to nab the accused. The victim's family has been given police protection.
