Greying of hair may or may not mean maturity and wisdom, but it sure implies that your body isn't producing enough melamine- an early sign of aging. And although those silver and white streaks might look dapper in your 40s, but when they appear early on, it's problematic. However, defy chemical solutions, and go for these five natural home remedies to darken grey hair.
Black tea
The caffeine in black tea is filled with antioxidants, that are known to help darken your hair and stimulate hair strengthening and better growth. Start by boiling a cup of water with two tablespoon of black tea and one tablespoon of salt. Then let it cool, and apply generously over freshly washed hair. Finally, allow it to dry. Do this regularly to witness results.
Amla and methi seeds
Rich in Vitamin C, Amla is an Ayurveda-certified remedy for various hair problems. To darken hair, add 6-7 pieces of Amla seeds to three tablespoon of any oil of your choice (coconut/olive/almond) and boil for a few minutes. Add one tablespoon of methi powder. Cool, strain and apply all over the scalp at night. Use a mild shampoo to wash off in the morning.
Almond oil and lemon juice
Almond oil contains Vitamin E, which can help nourish hair roots and prevent early greying. On the other hand, lemon juice is known to accelerate hair growth and add gloss and volume to them. To get rid of grey hair, mix some almond oil and lemon juice in 2:3 ratio. Apply over your scalp and massage well. Wash off after 20-30 minutes.
Curry leaves and oil
Full of Vitamin B, curry leaves can help restore melamine in hair follicles, thus helping prevent further greying of hair. Additionally, its richness in Beta-Keratin will help you deal with hair fall. Start by boiling one cupful of curry leaves in a cup of oil until they turn black. Cool, strain, and store. Massage your hair with it 2-3 times a week.
Onion juice
Onion is another great home remedy to fight grey hair. It can help increase catalase, an enzyme that will naturally help darken your hair. Combined with lemon juice, it will give shine and bounce to your hair. To use, mix 2-3 tablespoon of onion juice, one tablespoon of lemon juice and one tablespoon of olive oil. Massage your scalp and wash off after half-an-hour.
