Hizbul terrorist nabbed from Indo-Nepal border
A terrorist from the Hizbul Mujahideen was apprehended by the Sashastra Seema Bal from the Indo-Nepal border while he was attempting to cross into India. A Pakistani passport was also recovered from him. A team of UP ATS reached the spot to bring him to Lucknow for interrogation. Sources said the documents could be useful in proving Pakistani state sponsorship of terror.
He is a prized catch: Police
Asim Arun, inspector general ATS said "A team from anti-terrorist squad of UP police reached Maharajganj and was bringing Wani to Lucknow for further probes after producing him before the court. He seems to be a prized catch for us."
Details of the arrested terrorist
According to documents, he was identified as Naseer Ahmed alias Sadiq, a resident of Banihal in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. He reportedly moved to Pakistan in 2003 and joined the Hizbul Mujahideen. He was reportedly trained by Hizbul, the ISI and Pakistan's army to fight in J&K. He was nabbed while disguised as a carpet salesman.
Received arms training came to carry out operation
Police said he Sadiq was trained to operate AK-47, AK-56, SLR, Rocket Launcher (RPG7), Assault Rifle (G3 and G2) and grenades in Pakistan. He came to Nepal on 10 May with an accomplice to sneak in to India to carry out an operation.
