Himachal Pradesh: Soldier shoots dead two colleagues, then kills self
A soldier allegedly shot dead two of his colleagues from his unit and killed himself today in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala Cantonment, a defense spokesperson said. Jasbir Singh, a soldier of the 18 Sikh Regiment, shot dead two fellow soldiers, Hardeep Singh, and Harpal Singh, at the Officer's Mess around 2 am. He then shot himself and all three died on the spot. Here's more.
Reason for Jasbir's act is yet to be ascertained
Jasbir was posted to the unit six months back, Defense Spokesperson Colonel Davinder Anand said. He added that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident, where the reason for this unfortunate incident would be ascertained. To further queries, he said, "Other details are still not available." However, cops said Jasbir used his service INSAS rifle to shoot himself.
