Himachal Pradesh rains: 120 people stranded, 35 IIT students missing
Over the past few days, the state of Himachal Pradesh has been pounded by torrential rains, leading to the death of at least eight people. As of Tuesday, more than 120 people remained stranded at Khoskar in the Lahaul Spiti district of the state. Meanwhile, 35 students of IIT-Roorkee who went trekking to the Hamta Pass have reportedly gone missing. Here are the details.

"None have complained to me about the missing students in particular. They may be among those stranded in Khoksar. I have checked with the staff on duty and there is no one stranded towards Hamta," said Kullu deputy commissioner Yunus.
Incessant rains have resulted in 378 roads being closed
Incessant rainfall for the past three days led to schools being shut down in the state's Kinnaur, Kullu and Kangra districts on Monday. Several river are flowing close to the danger mark and are threatening to overflow. Meanwhile, landslides have affected road connectivity, and 378 roads remain closed, including the Chandigarh-Manali highway and the Pathankot-Chamba highway. Manali has been cut-off from Kullu.
Moderate to heavy rainfall expected till Tuesday
According to MeT department officials, Himachal Pradesh is slated to receive moderate to heavy rainfall till Tuesday. Thus, as a precaution, all educational institutes have been asked to remain closed till September 25, and will be reopened once rains subside. Meanwhile, the Chamba administration has advised residents to stay away from rivers and water bodies, as water will be released from the Chamera dam.
