Himachal hikes award-money for medal winners in international sporting events
The Himachal Pradesh government has increased the award money for medal winners from the state in the Olympics, Commonwealth, and the Asian Games, the state's Sports Minister Govind Singh said in the Assembly today. He was replying to a question by BJP MLA Narendra Bragta during the Question Hour on the second day of the ongoing Monsoon session.
Gold medalists in Olympics to get Rs. 2 crore
Singh said sportspersons from Himachal who won gold at the Olympics would now get Rs. 2cr, up from Rs. 1cr, while silver and bronze medal winners would now get Rs. 1cr and Rs. 50L respectively. He added that the award money for gold, silver, and bronze medal winners in Commonwealth and Asian Games was increased to Rs. 20L, Rs. 10L and Rs. 6L respectively.
