Karnataka: Heavy rains throws life-out-of-gear, one dies after wall collapses
Normal life was disrupted by pre-monsoon heavy rains in low-lying areas of coastal parts of Karnataka, namely Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, on Tuesday. The traffic services remained affected in flooded streets of Mangalore and other cities. One person reportedly died. Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy has now taken stock of the situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet also promised all possible assistance.
One dies, twelve injured, due to rains
A 65-year-old woman is reported to have died after a wall collapsed. Twelve are injured. Fifty-two and 12 houses were reportedly damaged in Mangalore and Bantwal, respectively. All schools remained shut today. In Mangalore, major junctions and areas around railway station were completely inundated with overflowing sewage. The heavy rains stopped the flood water from flowing into the nearby Arabian Sea, worsening matters.
Kumaraswamy takes stock of situation, Rajnath Singh promises helps
Kumaraswamy took a stock of the situation and directed the district administrations to take Coastal Guard's help to prevent loss of lives. The authorities have set up five rehabilitation centrers. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered the deployment of additional teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for the next five days.

As Karnataka suffers due to rains, Delhi burns in heat
As the southern state of Karnataka continues to suffer from pre-monsoon heavy rains, the scorching heat in the national capital has left residents distressed. Delhi reeled under heatwave as mercury touched 44-degree Celsius on Monday. A spell of rain and high-speed waves is expected to provide relief today. The MeT department said Delhi will record the lowest temperature of the week today, May 30.
