Flight services disrupted in Chennai due to heavy rain
Heavy rain in the early hours of Sunday morning, and the resultant low visibility in Chennai has disrupted both domestic and international flight services to and from the city. Four arrivals and 10 departures were delayed from half an hour up to two hours. Two international flights also had to be diverted to Hyderabad.
Details of delays in international flights
A British Airways flight from London, and an Etihad Airways flight from Abu Dhabi were diverted to Hyderabad. A Kuwait Airways flight from Kuwait City, and a Qatar Airways flight from Doha were delayed. In departures, a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok, a Kuwait Airways flight to Kuwait City, an Air India flight to Sharjah, and an IndiGo flight to Singapore were delayed.
Details of delays in domestic flights
Red eye flights scheduled to arrive in Chennai from Delhi and Mumbai were delayed by over an hour, while a Pune-Chennai SpiceJet flight's arrival was delayed by over two hours. However, early morning departures from Chennai scheduled for after 5.30 am were not delayed.
