Delhi HC dismisses Honeypreet's anticipatory bail plea
The jailed Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's adopted daughter, Honeypreet Insan, had filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Delhi HC, alleging she was facing life-threat from drug mafias. However, after hearing the matter, the HC has dismissed her plea. She has been absconding since Gurmeet's rape conviction. Haryana Police earlier arrived in Delhi to nab Honeypreet. Know more!
Honeypreet's plea is "forum shopping": Haryana Police
Delhi HC questioned Honeypreet's lawyer, Pradeep Kumar Arya, "How does this application come under the jurisdiction of Delhi HC?" Arya said Honeypreet has a house in Delhi and has apprehension to be arrested. Opposing the filing of plea, Haryana Police termed it as "forum shopping."
Panchkula court issues arrest warrants against Honeypreet, others
On 25 September, a Panchkula court issued arrest warrants against close aides of jailed Dera chief -Honeypreet, Aditya Insan (Chief Dera spokesman), and Pawan Insan (former Dera spokesman)- absconding since 25 August. Following the court's arrest warrants, Haryana Police raided a house in South Delhi's Greater Kailash to arrest the three aides. Haryana Police have also sounded an international alert against the three.
Absconding trio booked by Haryana Police
Haryana Police booked the three absconding aides on charges of sedition, inciting violence, and being involved in the conspiracy to help Gurmeet escape after his rape conviction by the CBI on 25 August for raping two female disciples in 1999. Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Baljeet Singh Sandhu said they had started the legal process to declare these three as proclaimed offenders.
Honeypreet tops "wanted" list
Honeypreet Insan (Priyanka Taneja) reportedly tops the Haryana Police's "wanted" list of 43 people in connection to the violence that followed Gurmeet's rape conviction. In her anticipatory bail plea, Honeypreet claimed her "adoptive father" was innocent. She's considered to be the closest to Gurmeet.
