Haryana Government's move comes after accusations that it is providing VIP treatment to Ram Rahim in prison. Haryana's Chief Secretary, Depinder Singh Dhesi, stated special treatment isn't being provided to the guru. He, however, asserted strict action would be taken against those who have "done any sort of leniency" in their duty. He added law and order are being maintained in the state.
Haryana Chief Secretary Dhesi's statement
Dhesi stated: "The moment he was arrested yesterday, his 'Z plus' security cover stood automatically withdrawn. It was reported that he was being (provided with) an air conditioner, there is nothing like that. He is served the same food which other prisoners have."

Haryana Government suspended Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ashok Kumar, with immediate effect after massive violence erupted in the city. It alleged a "defective prohibitory order" by Kumar that "only barred carrying of weapons and not a gathering of five or more persons" allowed the crowd to gather. The government was under fire for not doing anything to control the Dera followers' violence.
