Haryana: Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary shot dead in Faridabad
On Thursday, a Congress leader was murdered in broad daylight in Faridabad, raising questions about law and order situation in Haryana. The deceased, identified as Vikas Chaudhary, was the spokesperson of the grand old party in the state. He was shot dead by two assailants near his gym. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries. The murder is being investigated. Here's more.
Miscreants fired more than ten bullets at Vikas
According to Jagran, the incident took place in Sector-9. Vikas used to exercise daily at the PHC gym. Around 9:05 AM, when he got out from his Fortuner car, two assailants, riding a white SX4 car, fired bullets at him. The accused fired nearly 12-15 bullets at the Congress leader. The report further added that Vikas suffered injuries in his neck and chest.
Vikas was rushed to hospital but couldn't be saved
Locals rushed Vikas to the Sarvodaya Hospital but doctors couldn't save him. Confirming his death, DCP Jaiveer Rathi said he might have died due to the bullet injuries on the neck. His body was sent to BK Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, police have started their investigation and are going through CCTV footage to nab the murderers. It seems the murder was planned long ago.
Congress leader slammed state government, demanded thorough investigation
Slamming the Manohar Lal Khattar government, Haryana Congress President Ashok Tanwar said, "It's jungle raj here, there is no fear of law. The same kind of incident happened yesterday where a woman who opposed molestation was stabbed. There should be an investigation."
Years ago, Vikas had quit INLD to join Congress
For many years, Vikas was associated with INLD and served as district president of the youth wing too. However, he dumped the party for Congress in 2015 after allegedly being denied a ticket for Faridabad assembly seat. Back then, Vikas had said, "Both the INLD and the BJP have lost the confidence and support of the people in the state."
