Haryana student mistaken for cow smuggler, chased, shot dead
A Class 12 student from Faridabad, Haryana was killed by a cow vigilante group near Gadhpuri on the Delhi-Agra highway on August 23, reports said. The student, Aryan Mishra, was mistaken for a cattle smuggler by the group, who chased his car for nearly 30 kilometers before opening fire at him. Five suspects, identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurabh, have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
Vigilantes misidentify student's car, open fire
The vigilantes had received information about alleged cattle smugglers leaving the city in a Renault Duster and Toyota Fortuner. The accused spotted a Duster car at Patel Chowk. They attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Harshit. But Aryan and his friends did not stop as they didn't as they believed that they were being chased by a gang with whom Shanky had a rivalry.
Class 12 student shot at twice
When the car didn't stop, the accused opened fire, striking Aryan, who was in the passenger seat, near the neck. After the car finally halted, Aryan was shot again, as the accused feared they might be fired upon. Sources indicate that the accused realized they had shot the wrong person when they saw two women in the car. They then fled the scene.

Aryan was immediately taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. According to sources, the weapon used in the incident was illegal. The accused are now in police custody, and an investigation is ongoing.
