Management students should build purpose-driven firms: Harvard Professor
Senior faculty of Harvard Business School, Professor Srikant M Datar, has exhorted management students to build purpose-driven organizations as the world will require many more "thoughtful and caring managers in the years to come." The senior associate dean of the Harvard Business School was speaking as the chief guest at the 53rd convocation of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta yesterday.
Be open-minded and willing to learn: Datar
"Be open-minded and willing to learn, act boldly and be responsible towards your organization and society after you leave this premier institution," Datar told the students after conferring diplomas to them. Chairman of IIM Calcutta's Board of Governors Shrikrishna Kulkarni said, "With passing years and increasing responsibilities, you need to be consistent with your dedication and eminence will seek you."
IIM Calcutta's director too delivered his address
As many as 433 students were awarded diplomas at the convocation. A total of 68 students were conferred Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX) and 50 students given the first batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA). The IIM (C) also conferred 10 students with the Fellowship Programme diploma. Director, IIM Calcutta, Professor Saibal Chattopadhyay also delivered his address.
