Gurugram shooting: Judge's wife succumbs to injuries, son still critical
Hours after a disgruntled security guard shot a judge's wife and his son, the wife, 37-year-old Ritu, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday night. Meanwhile, her 18-year-old son, Dhruv is still undergoing treatment, is in a critical condition, and is battling for his life. The horrific incident took place on Saturday, when guard Mahipal Singh, charged with the protection of Judge Krishan Kant Sharma and his kin, used his service revolver to shoot Sharma's wife and son, who were shopping at the Arcadia Market in Sector 49. After the shooting, Singh called Sharma to inform him of the incident and the fled. He was arrested later by police.
Singh claimed to be 'possessed' when he shot Ritu, Dhruv
Subsequent investigations revealed that Singh had been miffed at the judge's family for being made to do household chores. He told the police that he wasn't in his senses during the incident, and felt 'possessed' when he shot Ritu and Dhruv. Singh, a native of of Bhungarka village in Narnaul, had been with the judge's family for one and a half years.
Dhruv, if he survives, might have a permanent disability
After the shooting, the mother-son duo were rushed to the Park hospital, which advised that they be transferred to Medanta. While Ritu was shot twice, once each in the abdomen and shoulder, her son Dhruv was shot thrice - twice in head and once in the shoulder - but miraculously survived. However, doctors fear that Dhruv, if he survives, might have a permanent disability.
