Gurugram: Rape accused shoots survivor dead for not withdrawing case
In a shocking incident, a rape survivor was allegedly shot dead by the accused in Gurugram on Friday after she refused to withdraw the case against him. The 22-year-old woman was supposed to record her statement in the court but was killed by the accused, a bouncer named Sandeep Kumar, before that. The victim had filed a case in March 2017. Here's what happened.
Victim and accused worked at same night club
The shameful incident took place years ago when the victim was employed at a night club as a dancer. Kumar worked as a bouncer there and was her friend. In March 2017, he allegedly raped her. Subsequently, an FIR was filed against Kumar but he was granted bail later. The victim's mother claimed Kumar kept pressurizing them to withdraw the case.
Kumar forcefully took victim away, then shot her
The victim's mother revealed since the court hearing was on Friday, they came to Gurugram from Karnal to record her statement. On the fateful day, Kumar came to their house in Nathupur and said he wanted to talk to the victim. He forcefully took her with him, the mother claimed. As soon as the victim sat in the car, Kumar sped away.
On mother's complaint, FIR registered against Kumar
The mother revealed she got a call from Kumar, hours later, saying he would kill her daughter if the case is not withdrawn. The survivor was shot four times, police said. Locals found her body on Gurgaon-Faridabad expressway and alerted the police. Gurgaon police spokesperson Subhash Bokan said an FIR was registered against Kumar.
