What we know about the horrific incident
The girl's body was found in a room used as a shop near a temple in Sector 66. She was lying in a pool of blood, her face was covered with polythene, and there were three bricks on her body. Post-mortem reports revealed that she had suffered multiple injuries on her body, suggesting that she was tortured, before she was raped and killed.
The girl was killed with a blow to the head
"Her death was caused by the head injury...she was hit with a heavy object...due to which the skull sustained a deep depressed fracture. Multiple bruises were found on the victim's shoulders, waist, chest and back, suggesting she was tortured," said forensic expert Dr. Mathur.
The girl was lured by the accused on Sunday
According to police, the girl was playing with two others at their slum on Sunday morning when she was lured by the accused, who promised to buy her chocolates. However, despite the girl going missing, the family did not file a missing person's report even by Sunday night, and searched for her themselves. Then, on Monday morning, the grisly discovery was made.
The accused has been identified, and a search is on
Using samples from the crime scene and based on reports by the two girls who saw the victim being lured away, the accused has been identified as one Sunil Kumar, a 20-year-old migrant laborer from Uttar Pradesh. Kumar came to Gurugram last week to visit relatives but disappeared after the incident. Four teams are currently trying to track him down.
