Gurugram: Man posing as judge cheats 40 people, arrested
A man posing as a civil judge of a city court in Gurugram was arrested for allegedly duping at least 40 people, police said yesterday. The accused, Kedar Nath Sagar, a BTech degree holder from Hyderabad, used to allegedly trick people in the name of providing them cheap residential and commercial properties and jobs in the national capital region. Here are more details.
Accused minutely scanned online property sites to get client details
Police said Sagar used to minutely scan online property to get details of possible clients and offer them help in allotment of EWS properties and shops. "The accused introduced himself as 'judge Sagar' to victims. He would falsely tell them that he was posted in Gurugram civil court on probation and living in an upscale rented bungalow in Sector-12," ACP (Crime) Shamsher Singh said.
Accused mainly targeted women, charged Rs. 3-5 lakh per flat
"The accused mainly targeted women and charged them Rs. 3-5L for each flat he promised but nothing was ever allotted," Singh said. The matter came to light last week after a woman, named Gagan Batra, lodged a complaint about her relative being duped of Rs. 4L. Cops seized a fake ID card and other documents from his rented accommodation from where Sagar was arrested.
