Gurugram: Guard, who shot judge's kin, didn't like doing household-chores
32-year-old Mahipal Singh, who shot at the wife and son of an Additional Sessions Judge on a busy road in Gurugram on Saturday, didn't like doing household chores, early police investigation revealed. According to HT, Singh, who was meant to protect Judge Krishan Kant Sharma and his kin, said he felt 'possessed' at the time of the incident. The victims are undergoing treatment.
Singh accompanied Ritu and Dhruv to market, fled after shooting
The judge's wife Ritu and son Dhruv were shopping at the Arcadia Market, and Singh accompanied them. He allegedly used his service revolver (.38 bore) for shooting. At around 3:45 PM he called the judge, whom he had been working with since April 2017, to inform about it, and fled from the scene. He was nabbed, two hours later, from Gurugram-Faridabad road.
Police team found victims lying in pool of blood
"Locals informed the police about gunshots being fired. When a police team reached the spot, they found Ritu and Dhruv lying in a pool of blood. They were taken to the Medanta Hospital where they are undergoing treatment but their condition is critical," said DCP-East Sulochna Gajraj.
Singh spent some time with his friend, confided in him
Notably, Singh returned after shooting them to put Dhruv's body on the rear seat of the vehicle. When he failed to do so, he fled the spot. However, his actions were recorded by onlookers. Singh, a native of Bhungarka village in Narnaul, spent half an hour with his friend Kuku. He told Kuku the judge's kin met with an accident but later spilled beans.
Singh was mentally disturbed, didn't like running errands for family
Police Commissioner KK Rao said the investigating teams followed Singh on Sohna Road initially, but he later went to a village Islampur. During interrogation, he spoke about being 'possessed'. "The accused during interrogation said he was mentally disturbed and irritated as he was asked to take them to the market and he did not like doing household chores," Rao added.
