Gujarat: Woman cop killed by husband, in-laws over property
A 41-year-old woman cop was allegedly hacked to death in Gujarat by her husband and in-laws, who were eyeing her property, police said today. The body of Kiran Joshi, who was serving as an Assistant Sub-Inspector at the Visavadar police station in Junagadh district, was found in a pool of blood at her residence in the Madhuram area today morning. Woman's husband is still untraceable, says police
The incident took place yesterday in Ahmedabad. In his police complaint, Kiran's brother Mahesh Joshi has alleged that she was killed by her husband Pankaj Vegda, brother-in-law Deepak, mother-in-law Rasila and father-in-law Bhavani. They were also pressuring her to transfer in their names her house as well as some vehicles, Mahesh added. While the three have been caught, Pankaj is still untraceable, said police.
The cop was murdered using a sharp weapon: Police
The three accused are being questioned, said Deputy Superintendent of Police H S Ratnu. Detailing the murder, Ratnu said, "Kiran was murdered using a sharp weapon and we've found stab wounds on her neck and abdomen area." Commenting more on Kiran, Ratnu said she used to pay EMIs for a loan Pankaj had taken by "mortgaging her 35 tola (350gms) jewelry."
