Intel suggests Pakistani-infiltrators planning attack, Gujarat ports put on high-alert
On Thursday, all ports of Gujarat were put on high alert after authorities received inputs that Pakistani commandos could infiltrate into Indian territory through the Kutch area. Officials said the infiltrators intend to create a communal disturbance or carry out a terrorist attack in Gujarat. This development comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after New Delhi annulled Article 370. Here's more.
They are trained with underwater attacks: Adani's statement
Adani Ports and SEZ released a statement to reveal about the latest development. "Inputs had been received from coast guard station that Pakistan-trained commandos have entered the Gulf of Kutch through the Harami Nala creek area and they are believed to be trained with underwater attacks," the statement read. The statement said it's advisable to take utmost security measure to prevent untoward situation.
Port authorities aren't willing to take any risk
Notably, port authorities have asked for enhanced security measures. This includes "highest state of readiness", deployment of maximum assets and personnel, keeping an eye on suspicious individuals or boats, frequent patrolling along the coast, and keeping strict vigilance on all vehicles or homes.

Earlier, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh had warned of a rather similar modus operandi. "We have received intelligence input that an underwater wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed is training people to carry out attacks from water and that is one change. But we are prepared and will thwart any such attempt," the chief said. He revealed all stakeholders are working to prevent any intrusion.
In 2008, LeT terrorists used sea route for 26/11 attacks
It should be recalled that Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists took the sea route to infiltrate India for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Trained terrorists reached Mumbai from Karachi via boat in November 2008, to carry out the worst-ever attack on Indian soil. In the carnage which followed, 164 people, many of them foreigners, lost their lives. All terrorists, except Ajmal Kasab, were killed.
