Gujarat Board fails 670 students after major discrepancies in marks
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination Board found major discrepancies in the marks of 670 Class X students. While most of them scored 40 and above out of 50 on their objective questions, the same students scored as low as 5 out of 50 in the descriptive section. After a thorough evaluation, all of them have been failed.
All were found to have low knowledge of subjects
After finding the startling discrepancies, the GSHSEB called the 670 students for a hearing and tested them. All were found to be lacking in basic knowledge. Though no evidence of mass copying was found, officials suspect the objective answers were dictated to the students out of CCTV coverage. So though they obtained passing marks, they were failed.
What will happen to these students now?
Those who have failed in a maximum of two subjects will be able to appear in the re-examination in July. Those who have failed in more than two subjects will only be able to take the exam again next year.
