Congress MLA's sons booked for firing in air at event
A video clip, purportedly showing two sons of a Gujarat Congress MLA firing in the air at a musical event, prompted the police to register offenses against them. Anand MLA Kantibhai Sodha Parmar's sons, Mahendrabhai and Ranjitbhai, were seen in the video along with unidentified persons, Anand Town police station inspector NK Chauhan said. No arrest had so far been made; three were detained.
Video of MLA's sons goes viral on social media
The incident came to light after the video started circulating on the social media. It appeared to be celebratory firing as the accused were also seen welcoming singer Rajba Gadhvi at a musical event on the Anand-Sojitra road, near the city, Chauhan said. "We have registered an FIR against the Sodha brothers and six others, along with some unidentified persons," the officer added.
Police trying to identify others seen in video
The police were trying to identify the others, who were also seen firing in the air, Chauhan said, adding that the FIR was lodged under Indian Penal Code section 114 (abettor present when offense committed) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
Video shot 3 days back during Kshatriya Samaj's Dayro
The video was apparently shot three days ago, when the Kshatriya Samaj, an organization of the Kshatriya community, had organized "Dayro", a traditional music performance, to mark the second anniversary of its foundation. It was organized at an open plot of land on the Anand-Sojitra road. "We have detained three persons and an investigation in the matter is on," Chauhan said.
